BACScope Privacy Policy
Effective and last updated: 27 August 2026
BACScope is a professional BACnet/IP diagnostic tool. It does not require an account, display advertising, use analytics, or upload discovered BACnet controller data to First Principle.
1. Who we are
BACScope is provided by First Principle. Questions about this policy may be sent to lohit@firstprinciple.company.
2. Information processed by BACScope
When you use BACScope, the app may process information available on the local network, including controller IP addresses, BACnet device identifiers, device and object names, object values, status flags, units, model information, and vendor information. This processing is necessary to discover, inspect, diagnose, and report on BACnet/IP controllers.
BACScope processes this information locally on your device. First Principle does not receive or store the discovered controller information.
3. Local storage and reports
- Network settings and the most recent discovery results may be stored locally to improve subsequent use.
- Controller and health reports are generated locally.
- A report leaves the app only when you choose to save or share it using Android facilities.
- You can remove locally stored app information by clearing BACScope's storage or uninstalling the app.
4. Network access
BACScope uses Wi-Fi or Ethernet network access and multicast capabilities to communicate with BACnet/IP equipment on networks selected by the user. The app may also connect to Expo's update delivery service to check for and download BACScope software updates. As with ordinary internet services, the update provider may process routine technical request data such as an IP address, request time, and device connection information for delivery, security, and reliability.
5. Data collection, sharing, advertising, and tracking
First Principle does not use BACScope to collect or sell personal data, share personal data for advertising, serve advertisements, create advertising profiles, or track users across apps or websites. BACScope does not include user registration or sign-in.
6. Permissions
BACScope requests only permissions needed for its operation, including internet access, network-state access, Wi-Fi-state access, and multicast networking. These permissions support local BACnet/IP discovery, controller communication, report sharing, and software updates.
7. Security
BACScope is designed to keep controller data on the device. Users remain responsible for connecting only to networks and controllers they are authorized to access, protecting exported reports, and applying appropriate BACnet command priorities and site procedures.
8. Children's privacy
BACScope is intended for trained building-management and controls professionals and is not directed to children.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when BACScope's features or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page will identify the latest version.
